This packaging focused project centered around the idea of limiting waste in honey production. The beekeeping industry was worth $766.7 million dollars in 2020, and 18.9% of that industry is via farmer’s market bee keepers. This is my primary market for this product. The design of the silicone molds, can be re-used by the bee-keeper. The amount of wax that is required to make the mold is equal to what is produced with the honey production. Which works out to be 2.66 oz of wax per 12 oz of honey. The process of learning how to make silicone molds centered around creating a strong container for the prototype, using 3D printing, food safe silicone, and beeswax.
